TransportAPI is delighted to announce that we have been approved as a supplier of transport data managed services on the new G-Cloud 15 Software-as-a-Service platform. G-Cloud 15 is a major change from the past where the Government Commercial Agency previously only hosted brochures and the costing basis for services. The new G-Cloud 15 has functioned as a very large scale public sector competitive tendering process over the last nine months as suppliers were required to quote unit prices for all services. These prices have been evaluated by Government Commercial Agency pricing panels.

TransportAPI now publishes full prices by volume tier across all eight managed services that we deliver (e.g. Bus information managed service). Public bodies can obtain these prices by calling them off through a simple contract template… and our managed services are available at scale now. Public bodies no longer have to conduct a competition for access to these managed services as they can now browse the G-Cloud 15 offers and follow the ‘Award without Competition’ process on specification and price.

We have taken part in this process because we want to make it simpler and easier to buy data that needs to be delivered into apps and services in transport. Undertaking large scale competitive procurement with hundreds of requirements rarely brings the expected clarity or price reduction. The initiative of G-Cloud 15 has been to force prices out of the shadows and to drive open competition for existing products. We hope that this encourages public bodies to become more agile purchasers of the content that is needed to drive innovation in public transport information delivery.
